Matt Cain 3/3- The young Giants ace signed 3 cards from spring training last year. The Goudey smeared a little bit, but it was great to get some cards back after a long drought for my Topps set. Sent 2/11 (350 days)
Mark Schlereth 1/1- The former Redskin and current ESPN football analyst signed a Classic Combos Topps 2009 Updates & Highlights card that also features his son, Daniel. I'll send it to Daniel during Spring Training in a few weeks to complete it. This is the first football autograph I've acquired since I had Mark Rypien sign a Redskins troll doll when I was 6 years old. Sent 1/20 (8 days)
Stand-up comedian and "Ratatouille" star Patton Oswalt is in the midst of a booksigning/comedy tour promoting his first book. Today he had a free signing at the Brookline Booksmith in Coolidge Corner, and there was a pretty big turnout. I got a personalized copy of the book as well as a picture with him. My first IP autograph of the year!
Teemu Selanne 3/2- The newest member of the 1300 Points Club and potential Hall of Famer signed his cards from the 2010-11 Score and O-Pee-Chee sets. As an added bonus, he threw in a 2008-09 Upper Deck MVP card signed as well. This was a very quick return, especially from an active player in California. Sent 1/10 (10 days)
This time last year I didn't have a job, so I was constantly prepping cards to send out for spring training. This year will probably see a drop in returns since I won't have quite as much free time before the season starts. Hopefully I can continue to work on the 2009 Topps set and get more of the Updates & Highlights cards signed as well. Happy New Year!
David Booth 1/1- Back to back TTM days! The left wing of the Panthers signed his 10-11 Victory card, postmarked from Michigan where he is originally from. Sent 11/19 (52 days)
